In the Universe
Many years ago, I created a book about theoretical physics as a senior thesis. It's an appealing subject, but the field’s language and complex underlying mathematics can be intimidating.
The illustrations introduce basic topics relating to modern theoretical physics. They’re simple and friendly, but with enough complexity to describe these concepts in an introductory capacity.
The book was hand bound with a hardcover and printed on a soft, absorbent paper stock, giving the illustrations a sense of warmth and texture. See the Black Hole illustration to the right for an example.
Images from the book were also printed in Design Elements: Form and Space by Dennis Puhalla, illustrating a discussion about use of texture.
The book was complemented by a motion piece.
